On Thursday June 14, Three Valley Museum in Durant will commemorate Flag Day with a special flag dedication ceremony performed by the Woodmen of the World. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. and Curator Nancy Ferris said the public is welcome to attend.

“I would like to invite everyone to have some refreshments, enjoy the flag dedication and look around the museum,” she said.

Firemen from the Durant Fire Department will unfurl the Oklahoma and United States flags and a presentation will be given by Pat Metheny, of the Woodmen of the World, about the meaning of the flag.

“This is a special time for us to remember what the flag stands for and what it’s about,” said Ferris.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30, but Ferris said she encourages people to arrive early for refreshments. For more information, contact the museum at (580) 920-1907 or stop by at 401 W. Main Street in Durant.
