CALERA - Multi-sport standout Tashona Robinson has accepted a scholarship to play softball at Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Robinson signed her paperwork on Thursday at Calera gym, surrounded by family and coaches. Mountaineer Coach Andy Mace said she is the second pitcher bound for Wilburton.

“I didn’t know anything about her until she came up to pitch our all-star game,” Mace said, referring to the Kiamichi All-Star Classic held in May and covered exclusively by the Democrat. Robinson got the game winning hit in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel at the classic. She also pitched a week ago at the All-State games, hurling the final three innings for the Small East squad. She did not give up a base runner and struck out two. Colbert’s Kaitlyn Krob and Alexis Olguin joined her on the squad to represent Bryan County.

Mace also saw her in action at the recent Durant Invitational. Robinson is participating in summer league softball with Triple Crown, and the team will compete in a national tournament in July. Robinson is the daughter of Kerry and Sheila Robinson. Her softball coach at Calera was Randy Ellevold.
