Several county offices will be moving this week from the courthouse to the new courthouse annex at the former Robert L. Williams Library.

The Bryan County Treasurer’s office will be closed Monday, July 9 to move from the Bryan County Courthouse to its new offices at the Robert L. Williams Courthouse Annex, just across Fourth Avenue from the courthouse.

The new address will be 323 W. Beech St. On Tuesday, the County Assessor’s office will move, and Wednesday, the Commissioners’ office will move. On Thursday and Friday, the County Clerk’s office will be closed for the move.

Bryan County Treasurer Nancy Conner said some services of the office will not be fully functional on all days during the transition because some things require involvement of more than one office.

“For instance, I would strongly discourage anyone from attempting to file a plat next week, because my office and the county clerk’s office are involved in that,” Conner said. “Filing mortgages will not be possible Monday, Thursday or Friday, because my office and the county clerk are both involved there. Moving or changing title on a manufactured home involves both my office and the county assessor’s office.

“I would ask the public to please remember that even when we re-open for business, we may not have full functionality.”

Conner expects the public to be happy with the changes once everything has been moved and is in operation.

“I think the citizens of Bryan County will be pleased with what has been done over there, and we all hope it will allow us to give better service and keep improving.,” Conner said.
