Billie Merle Gilbert was born on August 10, 1931 in Whitewright, Texas to Ollie and Hattie (Page) Bartlett and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2012 in Calera, Oklahoma at the age of 80.
Billie attended school in Whitewright and Denison, Texas and worked as a waitress and a certified nurses aid. She moved to Calera in 1988 from Denison and she was member of the First Baptist Church in Calera and she enjoyed fishing, her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents Ollie and Hattie Bartlett; brother Thomas Bartlett and sisters Jimmie Cain and Wilma Handlang.
Billie is survived by her sons Bobby Harvey and wife Glenda of Calera and Johnny Grantland of Calera; brothers Donald Bartlett of Green Castle, PA and Joe Bartlett of Corsicana, TX; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2012 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Rev. Jacob Toews officiating. Pallbearers will be Lynn Jackson, Don Albert, Junior Doughty, Darrell Harp, Jerry Thrasher and Oscar Sweeney. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7-8 PM.
