Four people were injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash at the Highway 78 and Sandstone Road intersection one mile north of Durant, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

According to the patrol, Rachael Marie Harper, 19, Wapanucka, was driving a pickup westbound at 8 a.m. on Sandstone Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a van driven by Janet Marie Scribner, 56, Mead, who was traveling northbound on Highway 78.

Harper was taken by Bryan County EMS to the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma to be treated for external-trunk injuries. She was listed in stable condition.

Scribner was also transported to MCSO by Bryan County EMS. She was listed in stable condition with head, trunk and leg injuries.

Two passengers in the van, Junior Scribner, 63, Mead, and Zackry Hutchins, 13, Bennington, were flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, according to the patrol.

Mr. Scribner was listed in stable condition with arm injuries, and Hutchins is also stable with arm, plus head injuries.

Harper failing to stop at the stop sign was listed in Trooper Mike Green’s report as the cause of the crash. It also stated that Harper was sick at the time of the accident.

The Durant Police Department and Bryan County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation. The Durant Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
