OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $75,000 to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
The EPA says the money will fund the tribe’s water pollution control program. Under the program, samples will be taken to assess the quality of surface water on tribal lands. Researchers will study whether water quality standards are being met and if a more thorough watershed management program is necessary.
The EPA says the program aims to protect water quality in watersheds that cross state and tribal boundaries.
