Two Durant residents arrested in a convenience store parking lot for suspicion of selling drugs have been charged with drug crimes.

Jarrick Deshawn Hageon, 21, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a school. Harold Lee Cherry Jr., 20, was charged with possession of marijuana within 2,000 feet of a school.

They were arrested last week at the Valero station at Radio Road and University Boulevard after Durant Police to a call about what appeared to be a drug transaction in the parking lot.

The affidavit states that when police arrived, they observed two men later identified as Hageon and Cherry sitting in a vehicle that had a missing tire and was being held up by a jack.

Hageon, according to the affidavit, said someone went to obtain a spare tire. The officer could smell an odor of marijuana, and both denied that there were any illegal drugs inside the car.

They gave consent to search, according to police, and the officer retrieved a small baggie containing a green, leafy substance on the backseat floorboard. Officers found a large quantity of clear baggies in the console. The affidavit states that Hageon’s cell phone had text messages on it that were about drug distribution.

Police used “Google Earth” to measure the distance from the car to Victory Life School and it revealed it to be approximately 1,128 feet, according to the affidavit.
