Ross Morgan Bridges of Durant was born on Monday, May 22, 1939 in Willis, Oklahoma to Oscar and Eathel (Arnold) Bridges and passed from this life on Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 73.
Ross proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University on GI Bill after his honorable discharge. Ross has been a lifelong resident of Marshall and Bryan County and he retired from Hale Halsell as maintenance manager after 40 years to the day. Ross enjoyed wood working, blue grass music and festivals and spending time with family and friends.
Ross was preceded in death by his father Oscar Bridges; mother Eathel Nesmith and step father Joe Nesmith.
Ross is survived by his significant other of 14 years Wanda Sappington of Durant, OK; daughter Kimberly Maxwell and significant other David Jordan of Durant, OK; son David Bridges and wife Susan of Durant, OK; sisters Chloe Armstrong of Perryton, TX, Zelda Hicks and husband JW of Durant, OK, Anita Harris of Madill, OK, and LaWanda Walker and significant other Eugene Bates of Durant, OK; brother Marvin Bridges and wife Emmie of California; Grandsons Michael and Matt Maxwell of Durant, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 13, 2012 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Willis Cemetery with David Bridges, Eugene Harris, Sterling Hicks, Eugene Bates, Richard Burrows and Carlos Cole serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Bridges, Loyd Bridges, Matt Maxwell and Michael Maxwell. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM.
