BLUE- Round two at the Rock Creek softball fast pitch tournament got underway on Friday. Colbert beat Idabel 4-1 in game one and drop game two to Rattan, 7-0. Rock Creek outlasted Ft. Towson 5-3 and loss game two to Valliant 3-1. Tushka worked it’s way through the loser’s bracket to keep their hopes alive for one more day.
-Rock Creek Games 1-2:
In game one, defense was the name of the game between Rock Creek Lady Mustangs and Ft. Towson. The game would stay tied, until the fifth inning when the Lady Mustangs put the game away with a 5-3 victory.
Rock Creek’s lead off hitter Adree Young began the game with a well hit ball into the outfield for a double. Her teammate, Macie Eiller knocked Eiller home with a hard liner for a RBI single to give Rock Creek a quick 1-0 lead.
However, Ft. Towson answered back and tied the game at one apiece to end the first inning.
In the third inning the Lady Mustangs would grab the lead back. Again, Young would get on base. Then Michelle Wheeler knocked a screamer into the outfield for a RBI double and gave Rock Creek a 2-0 lead. But, Ft. Towson tied the game in the bottom of the inning at 2-2.
Rock Creek took the lead in the fifth inning scoring three runs, just enough to finish off Ft. Towson.
Once more Young began the inning with a single. Then Arie Young hit a grounder into the infield, but confusion and a bad throw let Arie Young on base and Adree Young went home for a run scored. Then Eillier drove in Young with a RBI single and Breanna Iams drove in last run on a fielder’s choice. Ft. Towson tried to rally, but could only mustard two runs as the Rock Creek got the win. After the game one win, Rock Creek faced off against Valliant and loss 3-1 to put into the loser’s bracket. Rock Creek was pitted with Idabel in Saturday’s game.
-Colbert Games 1-2:
BLUE- Behind Breawna McCraw’s six strike-out performance, Colbert Lady Leopards took control of the game early and beat Idabel, 4-1.
Colbert grabbed an early lead when, lead-off hitter, McCraw got on base with single to right field. Makayla Pierce step up and laid down a bunt, then a bad throw let McCraw cross home plate for a 1-0 lead. Idabel tied the game in the bottom half of the first inning at one apiece. The game would stay tied until the top of the fourth inning after Colbert got a run scored when Jordan Weger knocked in her teammate, Samantha Cummins to give the Lady Leopards a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth inning, Colbert put the game away. With two runners, Cummings and Kayla Strange, on base - Kali Knickle smoked a fast into the outfield for a two RBI double and gave the her team a 4-1 lead and the win.
In game two for Colbert things didn’t go well, losing 7-0 to Rattan. Putting Colbert in the loser’s bracket to face Tushka on Saturday.
