BLUE – The Rock Creek Lady Mustangs utilized strong defense and plenty of hitting in a Thursday four-inning fast-pitch decision over Boswell.

Boswell struck first on a Paige Shults RBI single which scored Sarrah Crawford. But Rock Creek went up 3-1 after the first inning, then tacked on nine more in the second for the 12-1 final.

Brianna Iams got the win for the Lady Mustangs. “She threw lots of strikes, she threw well today,” said Rock Creek softball Coach Tony Young. “Overall we played good defense. I’m proud of them.

“We’re a young team, we start five freshmen, but the upper class girls are good leaders,” he said.

Rock Creek improves to 4-2 on the season, following a Tuesday 6-0 win over Caddo.

The bats were alive Thursday for the Lady Mustangs, led by Adree Young who was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a triple. Arie Young and Kristen Robinson were also 2-3 at the plate; Macy Eiler was 1-3 with an RBI; Iams went 1-2; Devyn Johnson was 1-2 with an RBI; Michelle Wheeler also had an RBI.

For Boswell, Shults and Stacee Bacon (single) accounted for all the offense on the afternoon. The Lady Scorpions (1-4) will stay on the road with a game today in Calera and on Monday in Atoka.
