Monday evenings are fitness time for some families in Durant. Randall and Chandra Braggs, owners of Claw Nutrition, have started a Family Fun FitCamp every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.

The Family Fun FitCamp is held at Carl Albert Park right across from the playground. The fitness camp is free and for all age groups.

The Braggs started their business, The Claw Nutrition, approximately two years ago in conjunction with the nutrition company, Herbalife. Chandra said that the goal of their Nutrition club is to get Bryan County “fit and healthy.”

At their club Randall leads personal training and boot camps. These activities Chandra said are kind of intense and strenuous.

The couple said that they soon realized only a select few people in the community were coming in to get fit. They concluded that a free workout program of less intensity would get other members of the community working out.

The couple developed the Family Fun FitCamp on July 9 2012. The event begins at 6:30 every Monday evening. The program includes “traditional exercises” said Chandra, such as lunges, squats and sit ups.

To make it more fun the couple said they incorporate different activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, touch football and relay races.

Chandra said that they use activities that all age groups can participate in.

“We have a two-year-old daughter who is even involved.” said Chandra.

Although the toddler does not perform all of the exercises correctly Chandra said she at least tries and thinks she is doing them correctly.

The couple said they hope to get Bryan County residents of all ages to come out and join the FitCamp. They have passed out flyers and ask people they find at the park on Mondays if they would like to join.

So far the largest group has been approximately 20 people. Chandra said they hope to have the whole park full of people eventually.

The Claw Nutrition Club can be found on Facebook and online at www.clawnutrition.com.
