OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Gov. Mary Fallin says the White House has approved disaster aid for wildfire victims in northeastern Oklahoma.

Fallin said Wednesday federal officials had given the OK for assistance to residents and businesses in Creek County. She says help for fire victims in Cleveland, Oklahoma and Payne counties is still being considered.

Fallin is happy about the Creek County aid, but said with the damage in large areas of the state, she found the White House’s response “to be insufficient and unacceptable.”

Federal Emergency Management Agency spokesman Robert Alvey said the agency hadn’t seen Fallin’s remarks and couldn’t comment on them. Alvey said there are different factors in the aid process, and it may involve getting additional information on the affected area.

Nearly 680 homes and businesses in Oklahoma were damaged.
