Victory Life Academy continues to improve on the softball field, this time with an 11-1 four-inning run-rule over Boswell on Friday at Billy Miller Park in Durant.

The Lady Eagles started the scoring party in a four-run second inning, thanks to a series of hits by Mikayla Woodall, Kelsi Williams, Kylie Williams and Sarah Roesler. Boswell threatened to rally in the third on a double from Stacee Bacon, but the Lady Scorps stranded two.

VLA put up a five-spot in the third inning to take an imposing 9-0 lead. It started with a Caroline Jones hit which was bobbled around by the Boswell defense, allowing Jones to score for an in-the-park-of-sorts home run.

The Lady Scorps got a run home in the fourth, but he VLA defense responded with a tag out of runner Lyndsay Jackson by catcher Madison Waterman. Kaela Bryant’s two-RBI hit in the bottom of the fourth ended the game in favor of the Lady Eagles, 11-1.

Woodall scored twice; Kylie Williams had two hits for two RBIs; courtesy runner Brooke Smothers scored twice; Hayley Smith scored and logged an RBI; Amy Roesler had a single and a run scored. Kylie Williams took the pitching win for VLA.

Going into the final week before district play, VLA hosts Wapanucka at 4 p.m. Monday at Billy Miller Park, while Boswell will participate in the Wright City Tournament.
