The Bryan County Commissioners met briefly on Monday, September 10. Commissioners discussed the possible deterioration of Ranchette Road by trucks going to and from a new oil drilling platform.

Commissioners agreed to request the oil company post a bond in case the road does suffer extensive damage from the trucks.

The bond would be for $100,000. By posting the bond the company would ensure that any damage to the road caused by the platform’s presence would be paid for.

County Commissioner Monty Montgomery met with a representative from the company directly following Monday’s meeting.

Also discussed in Monday’s meeting was advertising for bids for a replacement patrol car for the Sheriff’s Office.

The new patrol car would replace one that had been wrecked. It was approved to advertise for bids for the new car.

Also approved was an additional cost of construction to the new County Jail. Certain access holes were not included in the original bid but are required. The addition will cost $6,855.09.
