KINGSTON — The Kingston Redskins rolled up 460 yards en route to a lopsided 48-0 victory over the Wilson Eagles Friday.

The Redskins (0-3) enjoyed their best rushing performance of the young season, compiling 292 yards on 39 carries.

The Eagles had their moments defensively, including a goal-line stand in the first half, but weren’t able to get much going on offense, finishing with just 53 total yards.

The Redskins’ ground game was led by sophomore Cameron Lewis and junior Keldon Risinger, who began the season as numbers 2 and 3 on the depth chart. The two were pressed into service by an ankle injury to starter Dalton Blankenship, and have performed well in his stead. Lewis found the end zone twice, and had a 45-yard touchdown scamper negated by a penalty. Risinger posted the longest run of the night with a 64-yard romp that set up an Ethan Bishop touchdown run.

The Eagles were paced by quarterback Tanner Hartman, who spent much of the night under duress, but completed three of his five passes and broke off a couple of long runs.

Kingston quarterback Jared Hayes only threw the ball 14 times, but he completed 10 for 168 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, and he added two scores on the ground.

Senior Jake Patterson was everywhere for the Redskins. The veteran made big plays as a receiver, quarterback, corner and punt returner, scoring once and setting up another touchdown.

Among defensive highlights were an interception by Moreno, a big hit in the backfield by Danny Charley, consistent tackling by Tanner Holland and numerous tackles for losses by the Redskin defensive front, which spent much of the night in the Wilson backfield.

For the Eagles’ defense, it was Dylan Asbery leading the way with solid tackles and big hits.

Both teams begin play in their respective districts this week. The Redskins travel to Tishomingo to play the 0-3 Indians, and the Eagles will host rival Healdton (1-2).
