Barbara Ann Smith, wife of the Reverend Dave Smith and mother of David, Robert and William, went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2012 at the age of 74. She was a wonderful friend and homemaker, and all who knew her, including the cats, were thankful for the grace and tenderness she extended to them.
Serving her church as an elder, teacher, choir and bell choir member, she sewed, made prayer shawls, visited the sick and fed the hungry. Her smile and friendliness in the Lord were a blessing even to those who attended to her in her last days in the hospital and hospice, and to them she was truly grateful for their care.
Happily proud of her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, she was enjoying the news of twin great-grandchildren soon to come.
She and her husband Dave met in New Orleans where she was born, December 3, 1937 to Duncan Hyder and Lillian McClean Selph. She received the Bachelor of Medical Technology degree from Tulane University, and was the loving companion to Dave for 53 years of marriage, including many travels and separations during Dave’s careers first in the U.S. Army and then in the ordained ministry, serving churches in Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas.
