Downs also opened his own business in Durant called Unity Hospice. He sold the business in 2008. He is married to Sherry Downs and has four daughters, Charlotte, Tisha, Stephanie and Ashley.

Downs attends the First Baptist Church of Durant where he is a deacon and has sung in the choir for 10 years.

As circulation manager, Downs believes in taking care of customers first. “I’m a people person” said Downs.

His favorite part of the job is working with people from the community.
