SILO — The Lady Rebels’ fast-pitch season came to a sudden halt Friday in a winner-take-all showdown with Latta for the district title.
After Thursday scores of 4-3 favoring Silo and 8-7 favoring Latta, the Friday tiebreaker fell in favor of the Lady Panthers by a score of 10-0.
Mary Grider looked to be in control as she only allowed one Latta run in two innings. But a three-run third knocked her out of the game. Latta would score three on Catie Simmons in the fourth and three more on Riley Newton in the fifth to claim a spot in the deep playoffs.
Jacquie Hendricks had the only Silo hit in Friday’s finale, a base hit in the late innings. Silo finishes with a record of 20-15, ranked 17th among Class 2A schools.
