After back-to-back weeks of facing ranked opponents on the road and at home, Southeastern gridders will hit the road for two in a row.

Coach Ray Richards’ squad will visit Arkansas Tech for a 6 p.m. kickoff Saturday, then travel to Alva to meet long-time in-state rival Northwestern at 3 p.m. on October 13.

No. 12 Ouachita Baptist squeaked past the Savage Storm 27-24 here Saturday to spoil the 2012 Homecoming festivities.

The Tigers moved up one spot in the poll to No. 11 after the win at SE that required a fourth-quarter comeback.

The Great American Conference’s other ranked team, Henderson State, rolled to a 50-22 victory at Southwestern and jumped to No. 14.

The latest GAC standings show four unbeaten teams with Henderson State at 5-0 and 3-0 in conference play.

Southern Arkansas is second at 4-0 and 3-0. Harding and Ouachita Baptist are each 4-0 and 2-0.

East Central is 2-3 and Southwestern 1-3 with both 1-2 in league play.

Northwestern and Southern Nazarene are 0-5 each with no conference record and both are ineligible for the GAC championship.

Arkansas Tech is 2-3 and 0-2, Southeastern is 1-3 and 0-3 with Arkansas-Monticello at 1-4 and 0-3.

Other scores from last week: Southern Arkansas 30, Arkansas-Monticello 14; Harding 31, East Central 14: Arkansas Tech 41, Northwestern 20; Langston 17, Southern Nazarene 14.

THE SAVAGE STORM led Ouachita Baptist 10-7 and 24-20 before the Tigers mounted the winning drive.

OBU went 69 yards in eight plays to run 4:23 off the fourth-quarter clock and put the final points on the board when Chris Rycraw took a 4-yard pass from Ty Towers and Jason Fowler hit the point-after with 9:44 left in the game.

Quarterback Jercolby Bradley led all rushers with 135 yards and accounted for SE’s two rushing touchdowns on runs of 32 and 19 yards. Bradley hit Krishon Daye with a 9-yard TD pass and Chris Peoples finished the scoring with three extra points and a 31-yard field goal.

Bradley paced the Storm with 316 yards of total offense (135 rushing, 181 passing) and three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing).

ARKANSAS TECH will be trying to make it two in a row at home Saturday night.

The Wonder boys are coming off a 41-20 win over Northwestern behind 260 passing yards from senior quarterback Tanner Marsh, a 6-4, 220-pounder from Carrollton, Texas, and West Texas A&M University. He is also the team’s leading rusher with 233 yards and four touchdowns on 44 carries (5.3 average).

Cassius Washington, 5-10, 170 junior receiver from Shreveport, La., has 20 catches for 282 yards, two TDs and 14.1 yards per catch.

The Wonder Boys average 26.8 points per game and allow 33, to go with 154.4 yards rushing and 256.4 passing. ATU allows 137.6 on the ground and 277.8 through the air. Total offense shows 410.8 for the Wonder Boys and 415.4 for opponents.

SOUTHEASTERN is averaging 24.75 points per game and giving up 30. Rushing yardage per game is 197.3 for the Storm with 124.5 allowed. Passing yardage is 225.5 for Southeastern and 182.25 for opponents. Total offense shows the Storm at 422.8 yards per game with opponents at 306.8 ypg. Bradley is the leading rusher at 80.75 yards per game and C.J. Kirk is second at 62.33. Bradley has scored four touchdowns and Kirk three.

BRADLEY HAS connected on 57.5 percent of his passes, 69 of 120, for 831 yards, four TDs and two interceptions.

SE’s leading receiver is Keelen Green with 15 catches for 160 yards. Quentin Morris has seven catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Gale has caught nine passes for 121 yards and one TD.

Ryan Shelley missed the Homecoming game with an injury and has 11 catches for 121 yards in three games.

Both Southeastern and Arkansas Tech are looking for the first GAC victory of the season.

Only one will come away happy.

STORM VOLLEYBALL visited Southern Nazarene Tuesday night and dropped a hard-fought 3-0 decision.

The Crimson Storm nipped the Savage Storm 25-20, 26-24 and 25-21 despite the young SE team hanging tough in each set.

Improvement across the board can be clearly seen for the Storm, but it has yet to transfer consistently to the win column. Southeastern is now 2-13 overall.

Next up is another rugged road trip to the Washburn (Kansas) Regional Crossover.

The Storm will take on Emporia State (Kansas) and host Washburn Friday, then meet Missouri Western and Truman State (Missouri) on Saturday. The next home match will feature Central Oklahoma for a 7 p.m. start Tuesday, October 9, in Bloomer Sullivan Gym.

The latest GAC standings show no (overall) unbeaten teams and one winless team.

Southern Arkansas (10-2) and Harding (12-4) are each 5-0 in conference play.

Arkansas Tech is 13-5 and 5-1; Southern Nazarene 6-9 and 4-1; East Central and Southwestern are each 5-11 and 3-2.

Arkansas-Monticello is 6-11 and 2-4; Ouachita Baptist 4-12 and 1-4; Southeastern 2-13 and 1-5; Henderson State 3-11 and 0-5; and Northwestern Oklahoma 0-14 and 0-6.

LADYSTORM SOFTBALL will host the final fall tournament Saturday at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.

Action gets under way at 10 a.m. on fields five and eight.

Southeastern will host Murray State, Grayson College, North Central Texas and Carl Albert to close out the fall campaign.

Coach Ron Faubion’s LadyStorm will open the 2013 season in the St. Mary’s University Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.

Southeastern will play Texas A&M-Kingsville, Tarleton State, Texas Woman’s University, Incarnate Word and St. Mary’s in the two-day event.

The home opener will be the Southeastern Shootout on February 8-9-10 that features 16 teams from six states.

Oklahoma will have four teams: Southeastern, Cameron, Northeastern and Southern Nazarene.

Arkansas will have four teams: Arkansas-Monticello, Ouachita Baptist, Henderson State and Arkansas Tech.

Missouri will have four teams: Missouri Western, Drury, Central Misouri and Missouri Southern.

Texas will have two teams: Angelo State and St. Mary’s.

Kansas (Washburn) and Nebraska (Lincoln) will have one team each.

The Shootout will have 47 games over three days with each team guaranteed six games.

The LadyStorm will face Washburn, Missouri Western, Lincoln, Angelo State, Arkansas-Monticello and St. Mary’s.
