A Durant man is charged with child sexual abuse, following an investigation by the Durant Police Department.

Glenn Edward Walsh, 35, Durant, was arrested and charged after police received information about a juvenile who had been sexually abused.

The juvenile was interviewed and according to an affidavit by Officer Shane Harkey, she disclosed that she had been fondled.

Lt. Chris Marcy questioned Walsh, who said he had “messed up and made a mistake,” the affidavit states.

He declined to provide additional information. During Walsh’s initial court appearance this week, his bond was set at $50,000.

In other crime news, Hugh Leon Bond told Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Bannowsky that someone came to his house about about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, knocked on the door, and said she needed to make some money.

According to the report, the woman said, “I have to take my kids to Six Flags.” She also said she had just been released from prison. Bond told Bannoswky that he left the room for a moment, and after she left, he discovered his billfold was missing. He later found it in his garden, minus the cash that had been in it.

Two chain saws were stolen from Craig Smith’s shop building in the 200 block of Old Bennington Road. Smith told Deputy Tim Harwood that the window on the north side of the building had been broken and pried open.
