Durant City Council met on Tuesday afternoon following a contract signing with the Fraternal Order of Police.

The contract secures that the city will maintain working conditions and pay for all Durant Police. The contract is signed every three years to secure the working relationship between the City and its officers.

The meeting that followed focused on updates for local projects. The council began by applauding the responders that took care of a water main break approximately three weeks prior.

Council then approved the conveyance of land from Southeastern Oklahoma State University to the city for the placement of a water tower.

The water tower has been discussed in several city meetings recently and according to the council is right on schedule.

More information on city council and other meetings will be in the Thursday edition of the Durant Daily Democrat.
