MUSKOGEE – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, said Wednesday that Michael Lynn Cash, 36, Durant, was sentenced to 420 months imprisonment, followed by 5 years supervised release for Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and felon in possession of firearm.

Cash was indicted in August 2011 and went to trial in February, 2012. After a four-day jury trial which began with testimony on February 6, 2012, He was found guilty on all counts. The charges arose from an investigation by Durant Police Department, and the District 19, District Attorney’s Drug Task Force. The evidence presented at the jury trial established that on March 22, 2011, in Durant, Cash was pulled over by a Durant Police Officer for a traffic stop. While the officer was speaking with Cash, another assisting officer saw a Beretta .22 caliber handgun partially concealed underneath a bag in the back seat of the vehicle. Cash was removed from the vehicle and a search incident to arrest resulted in the recovery of 11 baggies of methamphetamine inside a black camera bag on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. A check of the firearm revealed that it was magazine and chamber loaded with the hammer cocked and the safety off. Cash will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his nonparolable sentence.
