Betty Louise Lawrence was born on Sunday, February 8, 1931 in Buzzard Roost, Oklahoma to Samuel Andrew and Gevena Miller Keeler and passed from this life on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 81.
Betty received her nursing degree from Grayson County College and worked as a RN for many years until her retirement. She married Billy Joe Lawrence in May 1999 and they resided in Mead, Oklahoma until her death. She was a member of the Mead Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter; two brothers and second husband Wayne Mason.
Those loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her husband Billy Joe Lawrence of the home; daughter Jimmie Ruff and husband Bill of Denison, TX, daughter Patti Abernathy and husband Keith of Sherman, TX, son Tommy Johnson and wife Tonya of Celina, TX, Lacy Proctor and husband Gary of Sherman, TX, Billie Proctor and husband Lyndell of Mead, OK, Ann Curtis and husband Rodney of Oklahoma City, OK and Mary Carroll and husband Jimmy of Milburn, OK; granddaughters Sandi Tocquigny and husband Sam of Bells, TX and Becky Madison and husband Michael of Lewisville, TX; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Mead Baptist Church. Bro. Kerry Groce will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Keith Abernathy, Matt Leake, Chase Proctor, Rodney Curtis, Tyler Curtis and Lyndell Proctor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Griffin. The family wil receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
