A ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday afternoon was held to welcome Southern Oklahoma Development Association into its new building.
SODA has moved from its location on West Evergreen Street to a new building located at 2704 N. 1st Ave.
SODA is one of 11 councils of government that help local town and county governments find grants and improve their areas.
According to SODA Executive Director Wes Bowman, SODA is the oldest council of government in the United States.
SODA helps in ten counties that include Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Coal, Garvin, Johnston, Love, Marshall, Murray and Pontotoc counties.
Mayor Tomlinson, Durant City Manager James Dunegan and Senator Josh Brecheen were all in attendance to welcome SODA into the new building.
Wes and his staff make it a pleasure to work with them,” said Mayor Tomlinson as he thanked SODA for maintaining a relationship with Bryan County.
