Rose Crow-Courtney has served the risen Savior all the days of her life, and went to live with Him on October 28, 2012 in Richardson, TX. She taught a Ladies Sunday School class for 60 + years, most recently at Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, OK, and held all the “girls” in her class very dear to her heart.

She was born in East Lynn, Mo. on February 8, 1922, the second child and only daughter of Ben and Ada Yoder. The Yoder’s later moved their family to Aransas Pass, Texas, where she grew up and married Jim Crow on April 26, 1942.

Rose enjoyed 44 years of wedded bliss as a pastor’s wife until his untimely death in November of 1986. Together with some sweet friends they established the MacArthur Road Baptist Church in Irving, TX. In 1989 she married Jim Courtney, and had 19 wonderful years with him until his death at 99 years young on Christmas night of 2007.

Rose is survived by two daughters, Becky Harless and husband, David, and Melissa Oliver now residing in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. Her grandchildren are Brianna Keeton and Texas Keeton of Richardson, TX and Misty Dawn Fischer also of Kwajalein. Rose has three brothers Col. Lohn F. Yoder, deceased, Joe Yoder and wife Judy of Aransas Pass, TX, and Jerre Yoder and wife Patty of Benbrook, TX. Her nieces and nephews are Cyndy Yoder Kennedy and husband, Doug of St. Louis MO; Lohn F. Yoder, Jr. (deceased); Ron and Michelle Yoder of Ingleside, TX; Chris and Sabrina Yoder of Katy, TX; Todd and Natalie Yoder of Napa, CA; Travis Yoder of Los Angeles, CA; Brett Belsher of Haslet, TX; and Tamra and Ron Estrada of Pomona, CA. Rose has many great-nieces and nephews along with a host of cousins in and around Aransas Pass, TX., that she dearly loved and missed.

She was an inspiration to her family and friends; always had a smile on her face and an upbeat attitude. She always looked for the good in people and ALWAYS sought the will of our Heavenly Father in her life. She will be missed very much.

Services for Mrs. Courtney will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating. Burial will follow at the Restland Cemetery, Silo, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral
