A memorial tree and marker will be dedicated this Friday at Durant High School to honor Brady Rudolf, a National Guardsman who was killed in Iraq in 2008.

A special dedication ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in front of the high school as part of a Veterans Day program. The public is invited to participate in the event. (This year, Veterans Day falls on Sunday, Nov. 11.)

Rudolf was a 1989 graduate of Durant High School, and went on to a 20-year career in the Oklahoma National Guard. He spent 11 years as a pilot of Chinook helicopters.

He was killed in Iraq on Sept. 18, 2008, leaving a wife and three sons. The family and supporters will be on hand at the Friday dedication.
