BOKCHITO — A fourth quarter boost propelled the Lady Mustangs past Boswell 43-33 on Tuesday.

Rock Creek’s girls put up a pair of lucky 13s, with Adree Young and Julie Layton sharing the scoring crown. Devyn Johnson and Harlie Helfin added six each to go with five from Shaina Holland.

The Lady Scorpions (1-3) hung around until the final minutes. Rock Creek (2-0) led 6-5 after a quarter and 14-12 at halftime.

The lead didn’t grow much in the third, with the Lady Mustangs ahead 22-21 before Young converted a sweet layup during a three-point play which inspired an early fourth-quarter run.

Rock Creek went on an 8-0 run to start the fourth as Young and Layton converted a number of fast breaks. Rock Creek went on an 18-12 run throughout the fourth to end the game.

“It was a close game, and we need to do a better job of shooting free throws. We were 17-of-32 from the line,” said Rock Creek Coach Clyde Young. “But all in all, we executed our game plan and our defense held up down the stretch. The girls played hard and came out with a W.”

Tasha Vinyard and Madison Cress scored nine each to lead Boswell. Stacee Bacon scored six, Callie McIntyre had five, and Nicole Pittman and Breosha Williams scored two each.
