The Donald W. Reynolds Library and Community Center will soon be adding another activity to its After School Program for children.

The library, with the help of the First Texoma National Bank of Durant, will soon be showing children’s movies in the Black Box Theater in the facility.

Friday afternoon, Kim Kampplain from Texoma Nation Bank presented the library with a check to help purchase a site license for the facility.

A site license is required for any facility to publically show copyrighted movies. This license costs $400. Community Center Manager and Programs Director for the Donald W. Reynolds Library and Community Center Robbee Tonubbee wrote to the bank to ask for its assistance.

Tonubbee said that the library should now be able to show movies once or twice during the upcoming Christmas break. The library plans to show movies one Saturday every month after the New Years.

In her letter to the First Texoma National Bank, Tonubbee said “With the local bowling alley and movie theater closed, the children have very few options during these breaks from school.”

Tonubbee said the library is looking to fill the need in the community by expanding its offerings for school aged children.

The movie viewing will be a free service included in the library’s existing After School Program. The Friends of the Library will also be selling bags of popcorn at the viewing.

The Friends renovated an old popcorn machine and plan to sell popcorn for 25 cents per bag.

For volunteer opportunities check the library’s web page http://www.donaldwreynolds.okpls.org/. Volunteer opportunities may include popcorn salesperson and chaperone.
