Thelma Lou Cockrill died on December 3, 2012 at Victoria Gardens Nursing Home in Allen, Texas. Thelma was 100 years old and was born on September 17, 1912. Her parents were Lafe and Lucy Pierce of McGee Valley OK and she had 10 siblings with two still living at the present time.
She was married to C. B. Cockrill in 1934 in McAlester, OK. They had been married 64 years when C. B. died in 1997. Early in her married life, she and her husband owned a ranch in McGee Valley, OK and later moved to Durant, OK where she worked for the school district for many years. As a couple, they lived for each other and their family and enjoyed their favorite hobby which was fishing on Lake Texoma.
Thelma is survived by a son, Jack Cockrill and wife, Nancy of Kerrville, TX, another son, Boyd Cockrill and wife, Pat, of Allen, TX. She has one daughter, June Rossetti and husband, George, also from Allen, TX. Thelma was preceded in death by her oldest son Charles and her grandson, Derek Harper.
She was blessed with a huge family that she loved dearly, including 11 grandchildren, Chris Cockrill and wife, Susan, Collin Cockrill and wife Ann, Cheryl Matsumoto and husband Pat, Karen Hale and husband Pat, Greg Cockrill and wife Claressa, David Cockrill and wife Leigh, Kim Richardson and husband Mark, Cathy Carpenter and husband Jack, Allen Harper, Casey Cockrill and wife Rachel, and step-grandchildren, Dave and Dan Rossetti and their families. She had 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren with another on the way.
She is also survived by a sister, Louise Rowland of Calera, OK and her family and a brother, Bill (Clyde) Pierce and his family of Muskogee, OK. In addition, she had a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Thelma’s devotion to family and friends and her love for the Lord was such an inspiration to all who knew her. She always put others before herself and her children describe her as the “perfect mother”.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, OK and was very active until her move to the nursing home in Allen, TX three years ago.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 6th from 7:00 to 8:00pm at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
Services will be Friday, December 7th at 10:00AM at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel at 121 N. 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma.
