Deputies investigate thefts

Bryan County sheriff’s deputies have investigated several thefts in the county recently.

Deputy Tim Harwood spoke to Richard and Shirley Kramer in the 300 block of First Avenue in Cartwright. Mrs. Kramer said several rings were missing from a jewelry box. One of the rings was found at a pawn shop in Denison, Texas.

Deputy Vinny Cacace investigated a burglary in the 400 block of Bumpass Road in Hendrix. Tony Cranford said he arrived home from work and discovered that the back door had been kicked in. Two nailers, a television, laptop and approximately $8,000 in jewelry had been stolen.

Three shotguns were stolen during a burglary of Billy Busbey’s home in the 1000 block of River Road, according to a report by Deputy John Ray Haislip. The victim said when he arrived home, he discovered a door had been kicked in.

Firearms were stolen from Rita Smith’s home in the 100 block of Cherry Lane. According to Deputy Billy Sprouse’s report, the home was not locked.

Sprouse investigated another burglary in the 100 block of Old Highway 70. Joe Charles Jordan said he was in the process of moving to another house and when he returned, he saw that the back door had been kicked in and more than $8,000 worth of jewelry, cologne, a Derringer, cell phone, laptop, purse and prescription medicine were stolen. A coat and television were also taken, however, those items were left behind and found on a brush pile.
