The Durant Fire Department responded to a garage fire at approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The garage, located off South 10th Avenue and West Georgia Street, was almost fully engulfed and sending dark smoke billowing into the air when firefighters arrived, however, they quickly knocked down the flames.
According to the fire department, the property was vacant and the garage did not have utility services. A house on the lot had previously been torn down.
