Caddo Bruins dominates Achille basketball teams

ACHILLE – The Caddo Bruins dominated the host Eagles on Saturday, taking a 61-31 decision on the back of Ryan Minyard’s 22 points.

Jacob Ross added 14 points, with 12 coming from four three-pointers. Aaron Purkins hit a pair of threes for six points; Patrick Joines added nine; Peyton Joines scored six; Blake Phillips and Austin Vernon scored two each.

Austin Beene was held to an uncharacteristic 11 points as the only Eagle in double figures. Bradley McKnight reached eight, Derick Baker six, T.J. Childree three, David Beydler two and Jason Todd one.

Achille (7-8) will play at Victory Life Academy tonight; Caddo (7-5) hosts Colbert tonight before participating in the Marietta Tournament starting Thursday.

Caddo girls 52, Achille 35

ACHILLE – The Lady Bruins handed Achille a setback on Saturday as Tobi Miller led all scorers with 14 in a 52-35 Caddo win.

Allison Joines added 12, Lou Pilkilton had 11, Shelby Dellinger scored eight, Caroline Joines had five and Abby Percell scored two in a very balanced score sheet for the Lady Bruins.

Kayla Wright and Mallory Phelps scored 12 each for the Lady Eagles (9-6). Cheyenne Crisp added six, Maggie Back scored four and Marissa Williams had a free throw.

The Lady Bruins are looking sharp and will be fully tested tonight as they host the 11-4 Colbert Lady Leopards (ranked No. 7 in class 2A).
