Preston N. Sampson, 92, of Caddo, Oklahoma passed away Saturday morning January 5, 2013 at his home. He was born November 19, 1920 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Simp and Nora White Sampson.

He Married June Higgs March 15, 1941 in Durant. Preston served in the 475th infantry of the United States Army during World War II. He served from April 20, 1944 until January 31, 1946 and was discharged with honors.

Preston and June made their home near Armstrong, Oklahoma where they were dairy farmers and raised their children living there most of their lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons David and Archie Sampson and thirteen brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years June Sampson of the home in Caddo, son Ted Sampson and wife Billie of Durant, daughters Betty Nicholas of Caddo, Mary Tate and husband Mike of Durant, seven grandchildren Michelle Nicholas of Caddo, Wayne Sampson and wife Denese of Coleman, Chad Sampson and wife Gina of Tecumseh, Angela Beedle and husband Mike of Caddo, Everett William of Durant, Leslie Gootos and husband Dr. Peter Gootos of Grapevine, Texas and Tanya May of Mead, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services for Preston Sampson will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon January 9, 2013 at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo with Reverend Anthony Williams officiating. Military rites will be performed by the VFW post 3916 in Durant. There will not be a family night. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Caddo, Oklahoma.
