Jo Ann Hopkins a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away in Sherman, Texas on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the age of 81 years 2 months and 27 days. She was born in Durant, Oklahoma on Monday, October 12, 1931 to Fred and Addie (Manus) Patterson. Jo Ann married Thomas Lee Hopkins on Wednesday, May 1, 1946.
Jo Ann was a woman who lovingly committed herself to caring for her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Armstrong, Oklahoma. Jo Ann enjoyed playing Dominoes, Yahtzee and cheering for the OU Sooners. But most of all Jo Ann loved her family and cherished the time they were able to spend together.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband, Thomas Lee Hopkins, Sr. of the home; daughters, Alice Periman and husband David of Durant, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Norma Belvin; great grandsons, Brandon Sons and Eric Sons; great-great grandchildren, Kashlynn and Wesley Sons; grandson, Steve Hider and wife Kalyn; great grandson, Trendon Hider; daughter, Pamela Taylor and husband Mark of Denison, Texas; grandson, Victor Halk, Jr. and wife Chantel; great grandchildren, Sadie Halk and Tristan Nichols; granddaughter, Sonya Cork and husband Jon; great-grandchildren, Arial and Jonathan Cork; daughter, Vicky Hammons and husband Robert of Sherman, Texas; granddaughters, Wendy Spaugh and Kristi Hammons; grandsons, David Spaugh, Dakota Hammons and Montana Hammons; granddaughter, Lisa Hoaglen; great grandchildren; Clayton Don Simpson and Cody Hoaglen; granddaughter, Misty Hammons; great grandchildren, Mason and Makila Hammons; daughter, Jo McDaniel and husband Shannon of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kent Springer and wife Amanda, Collin McDaniel, Justin McDaniel and Doyle McDaniel; grandson, Keith Springer and wife Kellye; great grandchildren, Jackson, Lane and Olivia Springer; daughter, Connie Palmer of Calera, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jessica and Cole Palmer; son, Tom Hopkins, Jr. and wife Judy of Durant, Oklahoma; grandson, Justin Hopkins and wife Autumn; great granddaughter, Eisley Hopkins; grandson’s, Jonathan and Jaimison Hopkins; son, Mark Hopkins and wife Lori of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brittany, Alexis and Christian Hopkins.
Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Addie Patterson; brother, Jack Patterson; sisters, Mildred and Nell Patterson; great granddaughter, Nila Polk.
Family Hour will be from 6-8:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service will be held in her honor at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Victory Tabernacle Church in Durant with Bro. Doyle Pair officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Armstrong, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Hider, Victor Halk, David Spaugh, Kent Springer, Justin Hopkins, Cole Palmer and Christian Hopkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be JoAnn’s grandson’s.
