Michael Ralph Buchanan, 30, of Dayton, TX (Formerly Durant)left this life to walk on streets of Gold on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a loving son, grandson, nephew, uncle and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church in Durant, OK and will be officiated by Pastor Anthony Williams.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Buchanan; grandfather, Easton “Big Red” Buchanan, cousins, Lucas Hardmon, Kari Buchanan, Cody Dunigan. Michael loved watching all sports, working on the computer and listening to music, and traveling. Michael’s biggest love was that of God. Michael also loved “OU Sooners”.

Michael came to believe that God used his situation to change lives. Michael seldom was seen with a frown on his face, he appreciated life and considered himself blessed. Michael attended Durant High School where he was a member the choir and selected for All District Honor Choir. He completed course work at Kiamichi Technology Center and he received the honor of KTC champion. He graduated from Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK with honors in computer science.

Michael is survived by his mother, Loretta Figeac and husband, Gus; grandmothers, Theresa Patton, and Dorothy Buchanan; and a host of other family and friends.

If Michael could speak his final words they would surely be, Know God, Trust God, Live life to the fullest and never stop fighting; success is only limited by yourself.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Cure Duchenne 1400 Quail Street, Suite 110, Newport Beach, CA. 92660

I did not know Michael but I wish I had. He is an inspiration to me. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. It has been a very difficult battle. I too am a child of God and I will never forget "...never stop fighting; success is only limited by yourself." These are words I really needed to hear. Thank you Michael...I look forward to meeting you on those streets of gold...maybe we can walk together. My love and condolences to your family, my friend.
