A Calera man was injured Sunday after he drove his vehicle into a tree, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Erik Ray Patty, 22, was flown from the scene of the 3:15 p.m. crash to Plano Medical Center, Plano, Texas, where he was listed in serious condition with head, and internal and external trunk injuries.

According to the patrol, Patty was driving at a high speed eastbound on Bray Road at Highway 70E five miles east of Roberta when he lost control of his Mitsubishi, drove off the roadway to the left, overcorrected, and then went off the road to the right where his vehicle struck a tree.

Patty was not wearing a seat belt and according to Trooper Colby Murray’s report, driving too fast for the conditions was the cause of the crash.

Trooper Robby Keeling assisted in the investigation.
