CALERA — The co-opener of the Bryan County Tournament at Joe “Bok” Laughlin Gym saw the Caddo Lady Bruins take a 44-36 victory over Boswell on Monday.

Tobi Miller led Caddo with 15 points, and eight of those came on 8-for-10 free throw shooting in the fourth quarter. Shelby Dellinger added 11, Lou Pilkilton had 10, Allison Joines three, Ricki Braziell and Courtney Kelso had two each, and Caroline Joines had a free throw.

“Boswell’s size gave us trouble,” said Caddo Coach Vernon Johnson. “We’ve got to shoot better than we did. If we don’t do that, we’re going to struggle.”

The Lady Bruins went ahead by nine in the second quarter when the shots were falling. A steal and basket for Dellinger capped a 7-0 Caddo run to help maintain a 23-14 lead by the break.

But Boswell stung back with a pair of threes from Stacee Bacon and a pair of baskets for Nicole Pittman in a 10-4 third quarter for the Lady Scorps. Caddo went 2-for-6 from the line and 0-for-everything behind the arc in the third.

Three-point plays from Dellinger and Pilkilton pushed the Lady Bruins back ahead by nine well into the third. Boswell’s Breosha Williams helped the cause with an assist, two rebounds and a three-point play in a critical sequence.

Moments later, a Tasha Vinyard three-ball for Boswell cut the Caddo lead to 39-36. Turnovers and foul trouble doomed the Lady Scorps as Caddo scored the final five points from the charity stripe.

Vinyard led Boswell with 12 points; Bacon finished with 10; Williams scored eight; Pittman added six.

Caddo (11-5) will play Calera (11-7) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bloomer Sullivan Arena. Boswell (6-13) will face Silo (11-9) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the BSA.
