Durant firefighters responded to a grease fire and a brush fire on Sunday.
A 3:58 p.m., a woman in the 600 block of West Locust Street called the fire department and said there had been a grease fire and that the fire was out, but still smoking. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the wall above the stove was burning and also some insulation, according to a fire department report. They put out the fire.
Firefighters also hosed down a brush fire at 3:11 p.m. on Knox Lane. According to the fire department, the resident was burning a brush pile and when the wind picked up, it got out of control and burned approximately 1 acre.
