COLBERT – The all-senior starting five of the Lady Leopards put on a highlight-reel display of basketball on Monday to celebrate Senior Night with a 54-24 win over Boswell.

The victory gives Coach Chris Gillespie’s Lady Leopards a Bryan County-best 19-4 season record with two regular season games left before playoffs begin next week. They have risen to fourth among Class 2A schools in this week’s rankings by CoachesAid.com.

“I think we are getting where we want to be, and ready to make a good run,” Gillespie said after the win. After tonight’s game in Antlers and a visit to Broken Bow next week, Colbert will host district and sub-regional playoff games.

The seniors honored Monday were Darian Bradford, Katherine Hair, Taylor Lyons, Ginavee Mowles and Bailee Weger.

Colbert held a 35-6 lead at halftime and held the Lady Scorpions to zero field goals in the second period. Boswell’s Breosha Williams challenged Bradford on a one-on-one, only to have Bradford tie up the ball under the Boswell basket.

Mowles scored 12 of her game-high 14 in the dominating first half. Samantha Cummins came off the bench for seven, and subs Maddison Poteet and Haylie McGowan had five each.

The other starters for Colbert had a large collection of rebounds, steals and assists even though their scoring numbers were subtle. Bradford scored five, while Weger, Hair and Lyons had four each.

There were some third quarter highlights for the Lady Scorps, including Calli McIntyre’s block of Taylor Lyons under the basket, a length-of-court layup for Tasha Vinyard and a nice bounce-pass assist from Jayci Braudrick to Nicole Pittman.

Vinyard led Boswell with 10 and Williams scored six (all in the fourth quarter).
