BENNINGTON — The Lady Bears are primed and ready for the playoffs after Tuesday’s 63-28 win over Thackerville.

Crystal Tate led all scorers with 19 and Ashton Belvin had 16 as a huge second half helped the Lady Bears maintain a seven-game winning streak.

“This was a good team win, everybody chipped in,” said Bennington Coach Steve Harris. “The girls will have to play as a team to win districts. But we’ve been fortunate, and all the girls are playing well right now.”

Tristen Allen scored 12, mainly from behind the arc with three of the team’s four downtown shots. Marynna Mays added eight, while four players had a basket each (Harley Minyard, Kayle Malone, Kristen Hall and H. Lowery).

The Lady Bears were down 13-9 after one quarter and trailed 19-11 before the Lady Bears started to attack the basket more aggressively. Belvin scored five in the second during a 14-0 Bennington run.

The 16-6 second quarter put the Lady Bears ahead by six at the half. Bennington went on to outscore the Lady Wildcats 38-9 in the second half, which included 14 unanswered points to start the third.

The Lady Bears can boast a 16-7 season record going into a Friday playoff game against Milburn (4-14) at 6:30 p.m. in the Bears Den. The winner will play Victory Life Academy at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, also in Bennington.
