The cause of the death of an elderly man found dead underneath his pickup late Thursday afternoon is under investigation.
Emergency personnel were dispatched at 4:14 to a residence on Main Street in Utica.
Authorities said the victim was dead when they arrived. Sheriff’s Investigator Nathan Calloway said they are waiting on an report from the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
Funeral services for Weldon Taylor are pending with Brown’s Funeral Service.
In other news, two more vacant homes were set on fire this week in Cartwright and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office is working with the State Fire Marshal’s Office in the investigation. Several vacant homes have been torched in the area recently.
“We’ve interviewed witnesses and got some pretty good leads,” Calloway said.
