Early voting began today for the annual school elections that will be held Tuesday.

Voters who wish to cast ballots early for the Achille, Bennington, Caddo, Calera, Colbert, Durant, Rock Creek and Silo School elections may do so until 6 p.m. today or from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday at the Bryan County Election Board office, 217 N. 16th Ave.

Bryan County Election Board Secretary Linda Fahrendorf said a two-member bipartisan absentee voting board will be on duty to handle early voting, also called absentee voting.

“In-person absentee voters fill out an application form when they get to the office,” Fahrendorf said. “They are not required to give a reason for voting absentee. They are required to swear that they have not voted a regular mail absentee ballot and that they wiII not vote at their polling place on election day.”

In Durant, David Jones, Mary Faulkner and Tommy Sleeper have filed for Seat No. 3.
