ACHILLE – Tristan Paris pitched 3.0 innings of shutout baseball and struck out seven batters as the Caddo Bruins defeated the Achille Eagles 16-0 in four innings on Tuesday afternoon. “It’s always good to go out and win that first game of the season,” said Caddo coach Jeff Counce. “I was pleased to get the win and I thought we swung the bat well as a team.”

The Bruins led 5-0 heading into the third inning when Achille starter Tanner Applegate started to struggle with his control on the mound. Seven runs crossed the plate for the Bruins in the third with RBI singles from Patrick Joines and Austin Springer.

Four of the seven Caddo runs scored on Achille errors. Josh Ringle scored from second base on the RBI single from Springer to make it 12-0, Caddo.

The Bruins picked it up again in the top of the fourth. A pair of singles from Wyatt Wright and Peyton Joines set the table for an RBI double from Jack Wright that scored two runs. Paris followed with an RBI double of his own to score Jack Wright from second.

The Bruins changed pitchers in the top of the fourth with Wyatt Wright getting the last three outs to end the game.

Jack and Wyatt Wright each finished with a pair of RBI. Ringle finished with a double and an RBI single and Patrick Joines knocked in a pair of runs with an RBI double.

Zach Nichols went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles for the Eagles. Lane Manry also went 2-for-2 with a double and a single. The Eagles will look to bounce back from the loss with a home game against the Silo Rebels on March 8.
