Bryan County inmate escapes from hospital

A Bryan County inmate taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries escaped from the facility and was still on the loose early Tuesday morning.

According to law enforcement radio broadcasts, Billy Wallace, 18, was taken to the hospital that evening after he had been injured. He escaped at approximately 9:45 p.m. and authorities brought in a helicopter and tracking dogs to look for him.

Wallace was reported to have ditched his jail jump suit and was wearing boxers.

According to court records, Wallace was in jail on a first-degree robbery charge that was filed April 13.

It was not known how he had been injured.
