Durant firefighters extinguished a fire at a vacant house, located at 521 NE Fourth Ave., Tuesday evening. According to the fire department’s report, the $17,000 structure was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.

Durant firefighters extinguished a blaze at a vacant house, located at 521 NE Fourth Ave., Tuesday evening.

According to a report, the firefighters received a call at 10:37 p.m. When firefighters arrived four minutes later, Durant police were already at the scene and the structure was totally engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished at 10:57.

The house was empty and unoccupied, and no utilities were supplied to the structure at the time of the blaze, the report said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, pending an investigation by the Durant fire marshal.
