As of 7 p.m. today, Southeastern football is on the clock and counting down 604,800 seconds to Kickoff ’09.

We have only seven days before Henderson State (Ark.) University visits Paul Laird Field for the first game.

This swift passage of time means you should hurry every chance you get to pick up that All-Season Family Pass that covers football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball for every regular-season game in the school year 2009-10.

The All-Seasons Pass is on sale now for just $125 and your math skills don’t have to surpass mine to work it out.

The Pass covers two adults and all students age 18 and under in the immediate family.

Math again — there are 42 home dates and 63 games on tap this year. It all starts a week from tonight with the first football game.

You may have noticed the economy has taken a huge hit lately, and that hit has landed in the pocketbooks of most of us in Bryan County.

That makes it tougher to pay the price, but it doesn’t take away our desire to watch sports. Bryan County has some of the greatest sports fans in the world.

Southeastern Athletics Director Keith Baxter understands the situation, and that’s why the Family Pass is waiting for you. Even if you don’t have a family, the Pass still ranks higher than sliced bread and switch-hitters.

If a person attended all 63 games with the Pass, it would cost a couple of cents less that $2 per game.

Run that out a little way on your calculator and you will find that two people would be paying less than one buck each per game.

Add two kids (for a typical family) and you’re talking tip money for a coffee break.

HSU’s Roch Carpentier passed for 315.7 yards per game in 2008. Come watch the Storm blow him away.

AGAIN THIS YEAR, the SE FunZone will be in operation at every home game.

It’s free for the fans (with paid admission) at every home game.

Southeastern has teamed with Bouncin’ Around to load the FunZone with great activities for kids of all ages.

Along with inflatable bouncers, there will be the fan-favorite bouncing castle and the inflatable obstacle course. The mini-PLF football field allows young fans to play touch football while they root for the Savage Storm to play tough football.

The touch football field will be next to the mini-ballpark which is home to the area’s best wiffle ball home run derby contest.

THERE ARE ALSO Seasonal Family Passes as well as the All-Seasons Pass, and any of them brings great savings. The All-Seasons Pass is the way to go for True Blue Savage Storm fans, and there’s one waiting for your family.

I know it’s a bit warm to be thinking Christmas present, but I’ll bet you know someone who would truly appreciate the All-Seasons Family Pass. Come Christmas time, just send a card and a note reminding them they’ve been using your Christmas gift since Aug. 27.
