DURANT— Southeastern Oklahoma State University will celebrate “A Centennial Homecoming” on Oct. 9-10.

Alumni and friends can expect to enjoy a number of traditions both old and new as they return to campus this fall.

The Whang Bang alumni golf tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, at Silverado Golf Course.

One major change this year involves the distinguished alumni/former faculty awards banquet. This event has been moved from Saturday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Visual and Performing Arts Center.

Other traditional events scheduled for Saturday include the former athletes’ breakfast (8:30 a.m.), the Homecoming Parade (10 a.m.) and football game vs. Central Oklahoma (2:30 p.m.)

An Alumni Tailgate party will begin at 1 p.m. in Alumni Alley, located south of Paul Laird Field on University. In addition, following the game, Spur 503 will perform in concert in Alumni Alley.

Other special events on Saturday, Oct. 10, include the Russell School Reception (11 a.m.) and the unveiling of a centennial historical marker in front of the Russell Building.
