VLA 26, MVG 20
Dayton Booth went up for a Jake Nichols jump ball, outleaped a defender and came down safely in the end zone as time expired to give the Eagles a 26-20 win over Mt. View-Gotebo Friday night.
VLA trailed 12-8 at the half, but got a rushing touchdown by Jacob Dupree and both teams exchanged scores including another one by Booth.
The Eagles evened their record to 2-2 in District C-2, and to 2-3 on the season. The Eagles won’t be able to take the momentum into this week, however, with an open date. The next game will be at home against Cement, Thursday, Oct. 15.
Caddo 20, Paoli 6
Coach Randy Hitsman was looking for his defense to step up and it did, as the Caddo Bruins topped Paoli 20-6 Friday’s Homecoming contest.
Caddo opened scoring on a 55-yard touchdown run by Dillon Proctor. Nate Owens made it 8-0 with a conversion run.
The Bruins’ next score came on a six-yard touchdown run by Owens. The conversion failed, and Caddo took a 14-0 lead in at half-time.
A blocked punt set up Paoli’s score, but Proctor helped ice the game with points for the defense when he returned a fumble 22-yards for a touchdown.
Caddo improved to 3-2 with the win and earned its second district win to even it a 2-2.
The Bruins will be back on the road facing Allen Friday. Allen lost 38-36 to Alex last week, who will be Caddo’s opponent during the Thursday game of the Fall Break vacation.
