SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Southeastern Women’s softball team will return from the St. Mary’s tournament below .500 after dropping a pair of games Saturday. Southeastern fell to 3-4 on the season after losing 2-1 to St. Mary’s in the final game, following a 2-0 loss to Angelo State.
Against St. Mary’s, the Storm took the early lead for the first time in the tournament after Jennifer Morales opened the game with a double, Jeana Keyes bunted her into scoring position and Amanda Tanner singled to center to drive in the run.
SE left two on in the second, two on in the sixth and two more in the seventh. St. Mary’s scored both its run in the third after a one-out double and two-out double.
Ashley Smith took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the season.
Angelo State 2, SE 0
Amanda Tanner fell to 2-2 on the season with the hard-luck loss. She blanked ASU for the first three innings before walking in a run with two outs in the fourth.
In the sixth inning, Angelo State added insurance on back-to-back doubles with two outs.
SE left the bases loaded in the fourth, left two on in the sixth and stranded two more in the seventh.
Tanner, Mandi Worthington and Morgan Miller were each 2-for-3 to lead the Storm offense. Makesa Richey had SE’s only other hit, batting 1-for-3.
