The Durant Lions held their opponents scoreless to open the season with a pair of wins in the First United Bank/Choctaw Nation Resort First Pitch Festival.

The Lions opened with a 6-0 win over Noble and won 8-0 over Bonham in the nightcap.

Because their girls’ basketball team was in the state basketball tournament last night, Caney had dropped out of the festival. That moves today’s opener to 12:30 p.m., but all other games will go ahead as scheduled.

In other games, Hugo beat Noble, 6-5, and Bonham beat Hugo 12-0.

Today Durant will play the last game of the night, scheduled for 8 p.m. against Jenks and Saturday, the Lions will play Edmond Santa Fe at 3:30 p.m.

Statistics were not available at press-time for Friday’s games, but a full round-up will be available in Sunday’s Democrat.
